Jordan took a novel approach when he asked his partner Steph to marry him, enlisting the help of his mother when it came to choosing the temporary ring he would propose with. Jordan had planned to proposed in Lorne at a specially planned dinner, however he was so nervous the couple didn’t make it out of their hotel room before Jordan popped the question. “I wasn’t sure what was happening’,” Steph laughed.
The couple’s engagement marked a new chapter in their fairy tale romance that began at a mutual friends party when they were 15; Steph and Jordan found they shared a love for making people laugh and having a good time. “We continued to catch up at most parties after that where we would have a drinking contest which I still like to think I won, it wasn’t till many years later that we found something else that we shared a love for….each other.” Steph said.
Choosing a rustic chic theme, the Wangaratta-based couple chose beautiful Taminick Cellars as the location for their wedding. “Taminick Cellars has been in my family for over 100 years so I couldn’t imagine getting married anywhere else, it truly is a magical place.” Steph explained.
Once the date was finalised the next step was to lock in a wedding photographer. The couples quest for a photographer began and ended with Blissful Love Photography. “We think the talented Jodie from Blissful Love Photography was the perfect person to capture our love story. Jodie is very hands on with her clients and likes to get to know the bride and groom at a complementary engagement shoot prior to shooting your wedding, this really helped Jordan and I who hadn’t had much time in front of a camera before. Jodie is hands down one of the most inspiring creatives/photographers I know. Her eye for detail and the way she captures emotion and the nuances of every moment is incredible.” Steph said.
The bridesmaids didn’t need to travel far to find the perfect wedding party outfits, with Steph owning a clothing boutique in Wangaratta. “The girls wore Zimmerman full length silk ivory coloured gowns, Witchery Flats with Samantha Wills Jewellery. Each dress had a point of difference, with the maid of honor wearing one-should and the other bridesmaids wearing high and strapless necklines. I wanted the girls to wear something that suited their style and shape.” Steph explained.
The bride’s own exquisite gown was made by Amaline Vitale a Melbourne designer. “I had a very good idea of what I wanted, and after our first visit, I pretty much left it in her capable hands,” she said. “She made the gown I had envisaged come to reality, and it was amazing.”
When it came to the planning and styling of this rustic winery wedding Steph didn’t out source at all, instead she took on the task herself. “I am a stylist and merchandiser by trade so when it came to styling my own wedding I applied all the things I’d learnt over the years. I had lots of ideas but in the end it was the location that influenced my creative decisions. Because Taminick Cellars, is so rustic and beautiful it was all about highlighting those aspects. All the decorations were hand picked to complement the existing building and surrounds.” Steph said.
One of the highlights of this couples day was their wedding ceremony, “Our celebrant Elisa Westein from Elisa Westein Weddings was incredible, she helped make it so special. The ceremony took place in the middle of the vineyard, our vows were changed near the row of vines that were planted in the same year that I was born which was a beautiful moment; Your wedding is the one day where everyone you love is around you to celebrate, and you really don’t want it to end.” Steph said.
Later that night, the newlyweds shared amazing food served by Rinaldo’s and danced to Van Morrison’s ‘Have I Told You Lately’, hitting a dance floor that was world’s apart from their original meeting place. “We didn’t put too much emphasis on the first dance because dancing in front of people isn’t really Jordan’s thing,” Steph said.
Some advise Steph would like to pass on to future brides “You can never be too organised. If you don’t have a wedding planner or stylist, and you’re doing it all yourself it’s really important that you communicate really well with your vendors. So before the big day make sure you have everything covered, again and again. And try and find someone on the day who can help manage/organise things that may come up. Enjoy the process. A wedding isn’t just about the day, but also the things that come before and after it. And remember if it gets to the point where organizing and planning your wedding is way too stressful and its no longer enjoyable – relax and hire a wedding planner.”
Thanks so much Steph thats some amazing advice for bride & groom’s to be – Thank-you xx
