Questions Every Couple Should Ask Their Wedding Photographer

Choosing the Right Photographer for Your Day

When you are planning your wedding, one of the biggest decisions you will make is choosing your photographer. Your wedding photos are the lasting memories of your day, capturing the emotions, laughter and love that unfolds from morning preparations to the final dance.

As an Albury wedding photographer, I know how personal this choice can be. You are not just booking someone to take photos, you are inviting someone to tell your story. Asking the right questions helps you find a photographer whose style, approach, and energy feel like the perfect match for you.

This guide covers the most important questions every couple should ask their wedding photographer and explains why each one truly matters.

What Is Included in Your Wedding Packages?

Every photographer structures their packages differently, which is why it is essential to understand exactly what is included. Some offer albums, engagement sessions, and second shooters as part of the package, while others make them available as optional extras. Knowing what you are getting ensures there are no surprises later and helps you compare services fairly.

At Blissful Love Photography, I keep things transparent and easy to understand. My wedding photography services are thoughtfully designed for a variety of celebrations, from small elopements to full day weddings.

Each wedding photography package includes a pre wedding consultation to discuss your plans, a beautifully curated online gallery of high resolution edited images, sneak peeks delivered within a few days of the wedding, and full print rights so you can share and print your photos freely.

Optional additions such as engagement sessions, heirloom albums, and extended reception coverage are also available.

When researching Albury Wodonga wedding photographers, it is important to look beyond the price and consider the overall experience and inclusions that come with each package.

How Many Hours of Coverage Do We Need?

The number of hours you need depends on your wedding timeline, the size of your event, and which moments are most important to you.

Six hours of coverage works beautifully for smaller weddings or intimate celebrations. This usually includes the ceremony, family photos, couple portraits, and part of the reception.

Eight hours of coverage is ideal for most couples. It allows time for both partners getting ready, the ceremony, portraits, speeches, the first dance, and a portion of the evening fun.

A full day package, at 9 hours, tells the complete story from morning excitement to the dance floor is pumping.

As an Albury photographer, I often recommend eight to nine hours of coverage for traditional weddings in the region, as it captures all the key moments without feeling rushed.

Have You Photographed at Our Venue Before?

This is a very helpful question to ask. Experience at a venue can certainly help a photographer move quickly and know where the best lighting and backdrops are. However, it is not essential for creating beautiful images.

In the Albury and Wodonga area, I have photographed at many stunning locations ranging from elegant vineyards and gardens to rustic farm properties and contemporary event spaces. When I am shooting at a new venue, I always arrive early to explore the space, study the light, and plan creative photo opportunities.

Fresh eyes can often lead to unique perspectives that make your gallery feel even more personal. The most important thing is not whether your photographer has been there before, but whether they have the skill and adaptability to make any space shine.

How Do You Handle Different Lighting or Weather Conditions?

Light and weather are constantly changing, and a professional photographer knows how to adapt to each situation confidently.

In Albury Wodonga, we experience bright sunshine, dramatic clouds, and the occasional summer storm. I always come prepared for every scenario. Bright sunlight calls for finding soft, flattering light in shaded spots or using the sun creatively to create a warm glow. Overcast skies create beautiful, even tones that make skin look soft and romantic. Rain is never a problem either; I bring clear umbrellas and always find creative ways to use reflections, textures, and atmosphere.

As an Albury Wodonga wedding photographer, I believe it is not about perfect conditions, but about embracing whatever the day brings. Some of the most memorable photographs are taken in unexpected moments.

When Will We Receive Our Photos?

Every couple is excited to relive their day through photos, and it is completely natural to want to know when they will arrive.

At Blissful Love Photography, I send a collection of sneak peek images within 48 hours of your wedding (normally the next day let’s be honest) so you can share and enjoy them while the memories are still fresh. Your full gallery is usually delivered within four to six weeks, depending on the season.

When choosing your Albury photographer, make sure the turnaround time is clear and realistic. Quality editing takes time, and a thoughtful process ensures your images are timeless and beautifully finished.

Do You Offer Engagement Sessions?

Yes, and I absolutely love them. Engagement sessions are one of the best ways to connect with your photographer before the wedding day. They give you a chance to feel comfortable in front of the camera, capture relaxed portraits together, and get used to your photographer’s direction and style.

Couples who do engagement sessions often feel more confident and natural during their wedding portraits because they already know what to expect.

I include engagement sessions in some of my packages, and they can be added to any booking. These sessions are a wonderful way to celebrate your love story before the big day and to build trust and comfort with your photographer.

How Would You Describe Your Photography Style?

Your photographer’s style should resonate with you deeply. It shapes how your photos look and how your day feels.

At Blissful Love Photography, my style is candid, natural, and romantic. I focus on genuine emotion and timeless storytelling, with colours that are true to life and editing that enhances rather than alters. You can check out some of my work on Instagram here.

My goal is to create images that feel real, full of movement, laughter, and love. I capture the quiet in between moments and the big joyful celebrations equally.

When selecting your Albury Wodonga wedding photographer, make sure you take time to look through complete galleries rather than just highlights on social media. This gives you a full sense of consistency, light, and storytelling throughout the entire day.

How Do You Help Couples Feel Comfortable in Front of the Camera?

Almost every couple tells me they feel awkward in photos. The truth is, you do not need to be models to look incredible. You just need to feel relaxed and connected.

During our sessions, I use simple prompts that bring out natural laughter and movement. Rather than posing you rigidly, I encourage you to interact, talk, and focus on each other. This approach makes the experience enjoyable and helps your personality shine through.

I also spend time getting to know you both before the wedding so that when the day arrives, it feels like spending time with a friend rather than a stranger behind a camera.

The best photos happen when you are fully present and comfortable, and creating that environment is one of my favourite parts of the job.

Extra Questions to Consider

If you want to go a little deeper, here are a few more helpful questions you can ask:

Do you work with a second photographer?
Having a second shooter allows for more coverage and different perspectives, especially during larger weddings or when preparations happen in separate locations. You can add a second photographer onto your package.

What happens if you are unwell on the day?
I have a beautiful community of photographers within the albury wodonga region so would be able to get coverage by someone.

Do you charge travel fees?
If your venue is outside the Albury Wodonga area, there may be a small travel cost, but this is always discussed upfront.

How do you back up photos?
Every wedding is backed up in multiple locations immediately after shooting to ensure your memories are protected from the start. SD cards aren't formatted until your gallery is delivered.
